Miss Hydro Hog
Explorer West Middle School utilized the Pigs on Parade project as a collaborative effort among all its student body, and teachers from math, science, outdoor education, community service and the art programs. Elizabeth Hames-Lewis, the lead teacher, also wanted to provide an opportunity for students to learn and utilize problem-solving skills in order to complete their visual ideas. The students developed ideas on what type of pig they wanted to create, and researched various means to d develop their ideas. The resulting Hydro Hog’s boat is modeled after the Miss Jupiter (a 1950’s champ). Reminiscent of the Seafair Hydros, is both a fun effort and a fabulous pig.
