Pig of Good Fortune
This pig illustrates the relationship between the Market and our Asian American Community, symbolizing the good fortune this alliance holds. Pig of Good Fortune is completely covered with Chinese Lysee paper. These bright red and gold papers are traditionally used to share good luck money during the Chinese New Year.
Sandy is a metal artist living and working in Seattle since 1979. Her work is sculptural, sometimes figurative. "I have maintained my career as an artist through private commissions, participation in the occasional group show and an annual studio sale. The Pigs on Parade project strikes me as an opportunity to me more involved with a the greater Seattle community as well as an opportunity to help the Pike Place Market."
