To create this design, students from the Delany Learning Center affixed images of children of the African Diaspora to canvas using a photo transfer process. This heritage pig serves to remind student participants, Seattle residents, and visitors of the breadth of the African Diaspora and the impact the children of Africa have made on the fabric or our lives.
The strength and beauty of the African-American family inspire Kathy's work. It is her goal to combat the negative view of African-American families by portraying scenes that reflect her positive experiences. She uses oils, watercolors, and mixed media in her work.
